In 2018 the Group's net sales exceeded ca. €113 million, and the balance sheet value is about €1.6 billion. The Group has a total of some 180 employees, and its forests provide work for contractors and their staff worth more than 1 000 person-years. Tornator is a public limited company and its main shareholders are Finnish pensioninsurance companies and Stora Enso. Tornator's mission is "generating sustainable well-being from the forest".
The current Tornator was created in 2002 when Stora Enso divested its forestlands. However, the name Tornator has a long history in Finnish industry. Enso-Gutzeit had acquired a forestry company called Tornator in the 1930s, and the name was resurrected.
