Tornator Eesti OÜ’s forests in Estonia FSC®-certified

The forestry company Tornator has received an FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®) certificate for its forests in Estonia. The forest management certificate covers all of the company’s forests in Estonia, totalling some 50,000 hectares. Tornator Eesti OÜ’s forests had already been certified to the national PEFC standard (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification).

“We want to respond to our customers’ needs as well as possible. For Tornator, FSC certification is one way of securing the demand for wood also in the future,” says Riido Rosin, Tornator’s Country Manager for Estonia.

“FSC certification is in line with the Group’s strategy, and another step in developing the business in Estonia,” says Matti Kuusisto, Tornator’s Regional Manager for the Baltics.

Tornator started preparing for certification in the spring of 2015. Certification auditors NEPCon awarded an FSC certificate to the company on 18 November 2016. Tornator Eesti OÜ will immediately start to provide FSC-certified wood to its customers.
